Next Monument Advisory Committee Meeting on Dec 7
Nov 29, 2023
By San Juan Islands National Monument
Zoom meeting Dec 7, 2023 at 9:00 am topics include MAC transition, safety, and trail issues
The next San Juan Islands National Monument Advisory Committee (MAC) meeting is on December 7, 2023 at 9:00 on Zoom.
While this will be the last MAC meeting under the current authority, we are working quickly to continue with regular MAC meetings under a new advisory committee authority with as little delay as possible.
Getting the new MAC up and running is a top priority for us and we have already forwarded our recommended updates for the new MAC Charter up to the Department of Interior. Among the changes we are advocating for is an updated mission of advising the BLM on the implementation of the recently signed Resource Management Plan (RMP) and adjustments to strengthen the impact of positions that make up the MAC including an extra tribal seat and a new seat set aside for a LOPEZ resident.
Bear with us as we all navigate this change and rest assured that we will bring the MAC back online as quick as possible. To stay in touch visit BLM.gov and for local projects, you can always see what we are working on on the BLM's planning portal: eplanning.blm.gov. Please reach out to the Monument staff with any questions.
If anyone has concerns or is interested in what's happening currently, feel free to call text or email the Manager.

We acknowledge we work, play, and reside on the ancestral lands and waters of the Coast Salish people who are deeply connected to the lands of the San Juan Island National Monument and have called this place home since time immemorial. We honor inherent, aboriginal, and treaty rights that have been passed down from generation to generation.
