LopezRocks is a community website for and by Lopez Island. Its purpose is to provide a forum for communication and interaction between residents Lopez Island and of the the San Juan Islands in general as well as organizations serving the San Juan Islands on subject matters of interest to the islands.

There is no charge for using the website but it is necessary to register your email address with a password if you want to post items or send messages to other users. A few resource-demanding services (picture and file attachments, and emailing of the newsletter) are limited to accounts which have made at least a modest donation towards the development, operation and maintenance of the service.

LopezRocks has been developed and is maintained by SalishRocks Web Design as a community and not-for-profit service. Its availability is a result of considerable development effort and its ongoing operation requires constant development, support and maintenance. The content of LopezRocks is contributed 100% by the users of the service in an interactive, dynamic and real-time manner. Its success therefore depends 100% on the quantity and quality of this content and the respect by all users for the terms and conditions of use.

Terms and conditions for use of LopezRocks

As a user of the LopezRocks service ("Website") you ("User") agree to these terms and conditions: User is a San Juan Islands resident, full- or part-time, and/or represents an organization or business located in or serving the San Juan Islands or a visitor to Lopez Island. User will post only items about matters (goods, services, issues and information) pertaining to and of specific and direct interest to the community of Lopez Island. User will accurately describe an item posted for sale, barter, trade, rent, use or otherwise and include the terms and conditions for obtaining or use such item. User will, when User obtains or uses an item via the website, abide by the terms and conditions listed by the other user for obtaining or use such item unless the parties mutually agree otherwise. User will, when posting comments to ongoing discussions, refrain from detracting the discussion by posting comments with a different subject. User will post comments to other users items only when such items are posted in discussion forums that allow commenting. User will refrain from posting items that are slandering, defamatory, libelous or derogatory. User will refrain from posting items that are uncivil, offensive, bullying, harassing, profane or disrespectful. User will refrain from excessively using the Website to promote personal, organizational or business interests or agendas. User will post items only that are of interest to the Lopez Island community at large and will refrain from using the website for communication of a private nature. User will post only items that contain truthful information and verifiable facts and will refrain from posting "alternative facts", conspiracy theories, false statements, hearsay or rumors. User will not post items which promote activities that violate local, county, state or federal law or regulations. User will post User's own content and will not post without permission content authored by others, including copied and pasted text and images from other websites or third party emails. User will post the substance of the subject content matter on the Website and not post items that are primarily links to content on other websites. User will not post items under an account which has been registered using fictitious, incomplete or anonymous contact information. User will not post content on behalf of others than User self, including content which can be construed to be authored by others than User self. User will post an item only to a page intended for the content of User's posting and will not post duplicate or cross-referencing items on other pages. User will ensure that User's postings expire or are removed from the Website when no longer relevant or valid. User agrees that the Website may at any time and at its discretion remove an item that violates any of the above posting policies. User will use the Website's message sending service solely to contact other users for a purpose pertaining to the subject of the item posted on the website. User will not use the Website's message sending service to send messages under an account which has been registered using fictitious, incomplete or anonymous contact information. User will not use the Website or any information obtained from the Website to harass other users of the Website or any persons involved in the creation or management of the Website. User agrees that the Website may at any time and at its discretion disinvite User from using the Website in case of violation of the above policies or for any reason whatsoever. User agrees that the Website may at its discretion merge, move or remove any posting for any reason whatsoever. User agrees that the Website may at any time and at its discretion change, re-organize or close the the Website or sections of the the Website for any or no reason. User agrees that User is a visitor to the Website and has no reason to expect, and the Website has no obligation to provide, any services to or support of User. User agrees that the Website shall not be liable for any consequences, direct or indirect, of User posting items on or obtaining information from the the Website and Website shall not be liable for any disputes between users of Website. User agrees that in the event of a dispute between User and the Website resolved in favor of User, User's sole remedy shall be a refund of any cash amount paid by User to the Website.
