Since the end of May 2017 many on Lopez, and especially in the Village we have had poor phone service. It started with crackling lines and towards the end of July it became much worse. We have 5 lines at the Pharmacy and at any given time any 1 or more of them are total a dead.
When people try to call, the phones just ring and ring, plus we and other businesses in the Village can't call out. Some businesses can't process their credit cards, and are at risk for lost income and fraudulent sales. In our case we have been unable to contact patients, as well as the clinic, sometimes in times of emergencies.
I made at least two documented trouble tickets when the problem became widespread (07/25), finally after CenturyLink was unable to give us any idea when the problem would be resolved we filed a formal complaint with the Washington State Utilities and Transportation Commission. In an example of Government being responsive we filed the written complaint at 3:00 p.m. on 08/10 and had a return call from Amy Woods at 5:00 p.m. the same day.
She has since kept me undated with information as she has received it from CenturyLink, however CenturyLink is still unable or unwilling to devote the resources to solve this problem. First, we need to realize our local CenturyLink repair person, Ken Bair, is only one person and is doing all he can, and has been very helpful, he just needs more help.
Finally, last Friday (08/18) Ms. Woods suggested people on Lopez document to her office their problems. So, now everyone on Lopez needs to do one of things.
Either call toll-free 1-888-333-WUTC (9882) at the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission and make a verbal complaint. Or

Either way is quick and easy, just think how dire the circumstance could be if you need your phone and it's dead.

Both my office and home phone have been having problems since June 22nd,
I have had three tickets on each phone.
I hope they refund the phone portion of my bill as I requested after one month of this disruption!! I will call today.
