Lopez skating community now is the time to make your voice heard!

Well, unfortunately the actual time for action was about a month ago but due to a lack of public outreach there was no way to know that.

After I made a bit of a fuss over the last few days County has provided updated information on the status of the new skatepark. Please check out the final approved design to see if this is the skatepark you envisioned based on the concept design presented at the November 6th meeting.

Collaboration between designers and the local skating community is essential in creating a good skatepark. I personally wanted to see a little more ‘flow’ to balance out the ‘street’ elements and I understand that my bowl request would require a drain but I’m having a difficult time accepting that the Lopez skating community asked for more flat space!!?? Is this not a little short sighted? Shouldn’t we be creating a park to challenge and engage our youth?

I am super stoked about this project! Let’s make sure we get it right this time.
