Lopez vehicle collision

On 10-18-20 at approximately 10:25 pm a Deputy on Lopez attempted to stop a speeding vehicle near the Village. The vehicle fled from the Deputy at a high rate of speed, but the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed off of the roadway.

The driver was airlifted to a mainland hospital for treatment. The Sheriff’s Office believes that alcohol was a factor in the incident and collision. The case is still under investigation, but it is likely that DUI, Reckless Driving, and Eluding a Police Vehicle may be referred for charging.
