MacKaye Harbor Closure Schedule

Shoreline restoration work and barge landings close beach access
SAN JUAN COUNTY, WA. August 16, 2022 - San Juan County is in the midst of several projects at MacKaye Harbor that restrict public access. The public is asked to obey ‘closed’ signs throughout the duration of the projects for everyone’s safety.
The ongoing MacKaye Harbor Boat Ramp and Shoreline Restoration Project overlaps with a barge landing at MacKaye Harbor that will deliver several thousand tons of road sand and road maintenance aggregate. During this time, the beach will remain closed to the public. See the full schedule of MacKaye Harbor projects below.
August 16: No work - site is open to the public
August 17-20: Site closed due to barge landing
August 21-22, 2022: No work- site is open to the public
August 23 - 28, 2022: Site Work - Remove any remaining material; Place all materials; Barge in any additional materials
August 29 - September 4, 2022: No work - site is open to the public
September 6 - 10, 2022: Contingency dates for any remaining work; Inspection; Site clean up
Work will begin at 7:00a.m. on all workdays and continue until tide prohibits equipment operating on the beach (around 2:00pm). The boat launch will be closed during the construction work weeks.
