The Great Islands Clean-Up is back in person!

Come join your fellow islanders for the 2022 Spring Great Islands Clean-up Saturday, April 23, 2022 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
We look forward to seeing community members and visitors alike at this annual event. Check the Great Islands Clean-Up Facebook page for regular updates and see the details below information on where to pick up bags, vests, grabbers, and when and where to drop off trash on each island.
Please take pictures of your clean-up adventures and email them to Katie. Tag us on Facebook and Instagram with #GICU2022.
Lopez Island: Meet at 10 a.m. at Lopez Village Park to pick up trash collection equipment and receive beach and roadway assignments. Bring your collected trash back to Lopez Solid Waste by 2 p.m. Contact Larissa for more information.
Orcas Island: Meet at the Village Green in Eastsound at 10 a.m. to pick-up your trash collection equipment and be assigned a beach or roadway. Bring back what you collect to the Village Green before 2 p.m. Contact Pete for more information.
San Juan Island: Meet at 10 a.m. at the San Juan Island Brewing Co. parking lot (410 A St., Friday Harbor) to pick up trash collection equipment and receive beach and roadway assignments. Coffee and goodies will be provided by Lautenbach Recycling to fuel your efforts (bring your own coffee cup, please)! Drop-off your collected trash at the same location by 2:30 p.m. There will be an after-party at San Juan Island Brewing Co. starting at 3 p.m. - join in for music by River Rye Bluegrass, 1 $ beers for GICU participants, a raffle, and the presentation of the Good Steward Awards. If you’d like to be assigned a road ahead of time, contact Katherine for beaches and Tina for roads. If you have general event questions contact Katie.
Shaw Island: Contact Jennifer Woodbridge in advance by text (not voicemail) or email if you’d like bags, gloves, or pickup sticks at 360-378-7948. Drop your collected litter off at the Shaw Baseball field between 2 and 3 p.m. If you find large items and need help moving them, please get in touch with Jennifer.
