Confronting Race and Empire Today with a Panel of Perspectives

Confronting Race and Empire Today looks at how others have perceived our rise as a capitalist country and how we have spread a specific ideology. It also address race within the machinations of capitalism and how one serves the other. This address history within a discussion of ideas and perspectives. It is interesting how other revolutions perceived our country in regard to what they wanted for their own (whether it turned out that way or not). This also discusses analysis of these perspectives within the context of where do we go next. The Forum includes; Philip Wohlstetter, Vanessa Freije, Moon-Ho Jung, Asad Haider, Chandan Reddy, and Nikhil Pal Singh. They ask: "What are the key points of contention and sites of struggle for reinvigorating anti-imperialist politics? How should we think about the role of US state power in the world? What are the challenges of creating egalitarian linkages and solidarity across borders? What lessons do past left struggles within and against the constraints of the nation-form offer?" The speakers will be Nikhil Pal Singh, Chandan Reddy, Moon-Ho Jung, and Asad Haider, with Vanessa Freije as moderator.
