People of the Cloud House 2024 Grant ҉

Dear Friends,

As representatives of People of the Cloud House, a Lopez Island community organization, we believe there are few things more important than supporting our young people. Last year your generosity allowed us to offer a single $1500 grant to a Lopez youth to help them achieve their goals.

This year we continue to offer grants to individuals between the ages of 16 and 22 who are committed to creating a better world by focusing their energy on issues of the environment and/or peace and social justice. We do this to celebrate and support our beautiful young people who work to bring hope and change to the planet locally and globally. Here is a sweet note from the 2023 Cloud House grant recipient:

“An update to Cloud House about my time so far in Ireland - it's been nothing short of fantastic and incredible and awesome. I've made some amazing friends and really settled in over here - it feels like a second home already and I am so looking forward to returning for the next two years. I joined the university kayaking club - this weekend we competed in the kayaking inter-varsities in Galway, such a blast! My subjects are manageable but very interesting - semester one ended before Christmas and classes are just starting up again after exams in January. Everyone is so kind, Maynooth is small and cozy and walkable, and anywhere farther is easily accessible by bus or train. I am having such a splendid and life-changing time. I am so grateful to you all for offering the scholarship, it has helped me immensely. On that note, I would love to apply again this year if possible”. Morgen Limbach - 2023

This letter is being sent to community members who may be interested in this grant effort. No donation is too small. Last year most of the funds came from small contributions. Every penny we receive goes to the recipients; our fundraising effort is entirely organized by volunteers. Please feel free to email us to receive more information and/or to get on our mailing list.

Statement of Intent:
We know that all of Creation is sacred. We are a part of all things and all things are a part of us. This sacred knowledge carries within it the responsibility to tend and nurture all of Creation, from the smallest to the largest element.
We hold sacred the stones and the soil, the rivers and the sea, the lightning and the heat of the Sun, the wind in the trees and the breath of all beings. All of these and one another we know to be reflections of the greater universe.
