҉ People of the Cloud House 2020 Grant ҉

Statement of Intent:
We know that all of Creation is sacred. We are a part of all things and all things are a part of us. This sacred knowledge carries within it the responsibility to tend and nurture all of Creation, from the smallest to the largest element. We hold sacred the stones and the soil, the rivers and the sea, the lightning and the heat of the Sun, the wind in the trees and the breath of all beings. All of these and one another we know to be reflections of the greater universe.

Dear Friends,

As representatives of People of the Cloud House, a Lopez Island community organization, we believe there are few things more important than supporting our young people. Once again this year we are offering a unique grant to individuals between the ages of 16 and 22 who are committed to creating a better world by focusing their energy on issues of the environment and/or peace and social justice. Last year the money you all graciously contributed went to 5 Lopez youth to help them realize their goals. Perhaps even more importantly, due to the strange and challenging circumstances this year, we would like to celebrate and support our beautiful young people working to bring hope and change to the planet and all its inhabitants locally and globally. Here is a quote from one of last year’s recipients of our grant:

“The Cloud House grant has allowed me to keep pursuing my goals while having to worry a little less about money. This grant, along with many other facets, helps solidify my current goals, and allows the creation of new dreams to sprout due to the blessing of my generous community. The tangible gift this community gives is the eco-nomic gift of this grant. This community also provides an intangible, spiritual gift of endless encouragement of the passions that drive this island’s young minds. For this I am truly grateful and thank you kindly!!”

This letter is being sent to community members who may be interested in this grant effort. No donation is too small. Last year most of the funds came from small contributions. Every penny we receive goes to the recipients and our entire fundraising effort is volunteer. We greatly appreciate your support for Lopez youth and encourage you to pass this letter on to like-minded friends. Please feel free to email one of us to receive more information and/or to get on our mailing list.

If you know a Lopez youth interested in applying for this year’s grant please have them contact Jeanna Carter/ jcarter@lopezislandschool.org or any of the contacts below as soon as possible to pass on the grant details. A copy of the grant application for youth can be found on the Lopez Rocks message board under organizations.
The application deadline is Sunday, May 31st.

We welcome your participation at a meeting to choose the grant recipients which will take place on Thursday June 4th at 7PM, location TBA. Please let us know if you would like an invite.
