San Juan County is seeking volunteers to create opposing statements to place in the online Voters’ Guide for the upcoming August 2020 Primary Election.

Lopez Island School District No. 144 approved sending Resolution No. 7 to voters. If approved, the measure would authorize a levy of $.19 per $1000 assessed value for each year from 2021-2024. The levy would support the District’s technology capital projects.

Orcas Island School District No. 137 approved sending Resolution No. 2020-05 to voters. If approved, the measure would authorize a levy of $.87-$.89 per $1000 assessed value for each year from 2021-2024. The levy would support the District’s educational programs and operations which are not fully funded by the State.

Both measures have “pro” committees and are in need of “con” committees to supply statements against the measures.

Each committee may have up to three members, though members may seek the advice of any number of people to assist in developing the statements. Each committee’s statement must be submitted to San Juan County Elections no later than May 25.

If interested in serving on one of the committees, please contact San Juan County Auditor, Milene Henley at 360-370-7558 or mileneh@sanjuanco.com.
