FRIENDS of the San Juans
Oct 29, 2014
FRIENDS is working towards clean water and healthy shorelines for fish and wildlife, safe shipping and oil spill prevention, and a livable community.
FRIENDS was founded in 1979 to support San Juan County’s efforts to manage growth and protect natural environments. Since then, FRIENDS' activities have expanded to integrated marine research, habitat restoration, stewardship, environmental law, education, endangered species protection, civic engagement and capacity building.

FRIENDS’ work reverberates throughout the Salish Sea in the form of solution-oriented actions, creative public-private partnerships, innovative applied science, and community-based programs that increase the capacity of citizens and government at the local and regional level.

Mission Statement
The mission of FRIENDS of the San Juans is to protect the land, water, sea, and livability of the San Juan Islands through science, education, stewardship and advocacy...for those of us here now, and for future generations.
